Moon Dance NEW 2 Fabric Applique Quilt Pattern

Moon Dance 2 Fabric Applique Quilt PatternOne of the questions I was asked about when I vend at a show was: "I see you have a sun pattern where is the moon?"

This got me thinking.. This is Moon Dance and I designed it so it can be made all on it's own or you can create what I like to call the Celestial Eclipse Quilt by adding Sunshine. You can create a single quilt using 2 of the 2 Fabric Applique Patterns. I think this would be the perfect shower gift or for a child's room.

This pattern has is very special to me because I was able to design a pattern to coordinate with a pattern designed by Nancy Lee Chong. As most of you know Nancy is a friend of mine and she is the reason I learned needleturn and Hawaiian Quilting. It has been about 3 1/2 years since my husband and I became the owners of Pacific Rim Quilt Company and since then I have had some big shoes to fill stepping into such a well known and respected company. I finally feel like I am hitting my stride and able to bring some of me into the company. I have been able to do this with the day to day operation but even more important to me is the designing. Between quilting and designing this is the main reasons I wanted to become the owner. I guess Moon Dance is a symbol of combining the previous with the current Pacific Rim Quilt Company.

Customer Question on Batting

Delicate Beauty Hawaiian Wall Quilt PatternChoosing a batting
Q: What batting do you use?
A: This is a question asked on-line, in our booth at quilt shows and classes quite often. Our answer usually begins: "How do you intend to use the quilt?" And that is a good question to ask yourself.
For our Hawaiian Quilts we use high-loft polyester bonded batting because it provides loft for our Hawaiian quilts. The air between the polyester fibers makes it easy to hand quilt, and keeps the batting fluffy between the rows of echo quilting. The quilting shows beautifully from across the room when you use a high-loft polyester bonded batting. We have never had any trouble with bearding (batting fibers migrating to the surface of the quilt), so we use it all the time for our Hawaiian quilts.
