Have you checked out Quiltfolk? The new community supported quarterly magazine? I received my third issue last weekend. I loved the first and second but I have to say the third is perfect for those of us who love Hawaiian quilting and Hawaii! I do not consider this a magazine but a quilting travel book. The stories are well written and I love the photographs. I sat down to read it and could not put it down until I had read the entire thing. They took me along with them!
The first issue is about Oregon, the place I have called home for the last 30 years so I was familiar with what they were talking about.
The second is about Iowa, a place I have never had the pleasure to visit. I now would love to visit, shop and meet the wonderful people who have been featured.
Then along came the third issue and WOW!
Not only will you recognize some of the designs as well as some of the photos of quilts created with our patterns but they also used some of our Hawaiian block pattern silhouettes. It is so inspiring to read the stories and feel a connection. Issue 3 is about Hawaii, it's quilting history, shops, designers, quilter's and much more. I feel very fortunate that they selected some of the photos of our quilts to grace the pages and even the back cover.
Each issue will take you to a new or familiar state.
My favorite part of the quilting world is the instant connection. I think it comes from doing something you love and are passionate about.
