Adding more color to your 2 Fabric Applique Quilts
Have you ever looked at one of our 2 Fabric Applique Quilt Patterns and thought... I really like it but I would like to add another color or two. That is how I felt about our Partridge in a Pear Tree 2 Fabric Applique Quilt. I wanted more color. I love everything about this design but just felt it needed a little something.
You can add color by painting or embellishing your pieces once they are appliqued, but how about adding other fabrics?
For Partridge in a Pear Tree I did just that. I cut the entire piece out as instructed. Next I traced each of the individual pieces that I wanted out of the additional fabrics. Once I had the pieces cut out I placed them on top of the pieces that I already cut, using them for proper placement. Now I can decide where to remove the fabric from the original piece. I wanted to make sure I have enough fabric laying underneath so there is no space between the tree and the stem of the tree. I also used a piece of ombre fabric to create the partridge which gave it a nice variation of color. Below you will see the photo of the piece before the needleturn applique was begun.
This process would be easy to do on any of the 2 Fabric Applique Quilt Patterns if you just want to add a little extra pop. What pattern will you choose?
