Travel Project
It's that time of year when we begin to think about our travels. When I have an opportunity to fly I love to have a project to work on in the airports and during our stay. Needleturn applique projects are perfect for this and the Hawaiian Block Patterns are nice small pieces that can be prepared ahead of time.
I wanted to travel with only the necessities. It was important to me that I not bring too many unnecessary items since I do my best to travel light... I am trying to turn over a new leaf. Typically I am burdened with too much and I want to correct that.
I prepared three Hawaiian blocks that were cut, basted and ready to go. Next I took a look at my bag of notions and picked out only the essentials:
- Thread to match applique fabrics
- Needles
- Scissors (for snipping threads)
- BNR light (personal light)
- Hawaiian Quilt Blocks
- Needle threader
As you can see in the photo of my necessities I have a lanyard. I like to have my scissors clipped on a lanyard that I can put around my neck while on the plane. This is so my scissors do not fall down between the seats on the or on the floor. I have also discovered that I can thread the lanyard through the center of a spool of Aurifil thread so I do not lose that either.
Pack these and you will be prepared and not stressed. Stitching is a wonderful meditative activity and will help keep you relaxed.
SAFE TRAVELS!
